MONTROSE, PA: The Small Family

I drove to the middle of nowhere. I didn’t panic but I did stop the stranger on the side of the road to tell me if I was in fact on the right road. Dirt roads, pot holes and multiple missing signs and yet I still made it! It was a success within a success! HA! My Jersey determination still has it.

I knew I liked Maria the minute she had contacted me. Extremely sweet and detailed, she had discussed her hopes of getting to work together for her fifth anniversary. Maria and Brian also have a wonderful doggie they wanted included which only made the session sound more appealing to me. After two rescheduled appointments because of weather (you crazy snow and rain!) we were able to meet at their home. And again, better then we could have ever hoped or dreamed, God provided the most perfect day.

They opened up their home and land for the photo shoot and I couldn’t have found a better spot myself. The light illuminated their features and I was left in awe of how beautiful this couple is inside and out.

Maria and Brian-I am SO thankful to have met you both! Thank you for an amazing morning session and the hot tea. Your kindness and gentle spirits makes me wish you lived a lot closer to my home so we could have campfires and share funny stories. With Appreciation and Respect~ Amy Emily

ENGAGEMENT: MARCUS + SHERYL

Engagements are always so wonderfully. It was a rainy/chilly day but Marcus and Sheryl came up from Jersey so I could photograph them. (Yes, yes I felt all sorts of happy and excited about this!) As we talked, photographed, joked and smiled the one thing that stood out was how Marcus makes Sheryl laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every second of watching their interactions while i photographed them but the humor was priceless. They have some of the best smiles too!

Sheryl and I went to high school together. We dreamed together of the Godly men we would find. We wondered if they would be tall, short, a layman in the church, a pastor, the class clown, would he be strong enough to beat up everyone else or would he be really quiet? We wondered together, writing excessive notes about every and anything to each other in high school. If you would have asked me back then what Sheryl needed in a man I would say someone who could make her smile. Sheryl needed a man who could make her laugh since she is one of the hardest workers I know. After meeting Marcus I feel confident that he will remind her to enjoy every second of their life together. He is a leader and a kind man! Even as i write that my heart wants to burst with happiness for my dear friend. He’s a keeper!

Sheryl and Marcus-Thank you for a beautiful evening full of laughter. You both are wonderful together and I cherished the time we had in Scranton. With Love and Respect-.A.E.

Wedding: Dave + Chelsea

The sun was shining bright and the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion looked regal in the beautiful morning light. It was the most attractive fall day anyone could ask for. Chelsea and Dave got married a week and a half ago in Wilkes-Barre and I felt honored to be a part of their wedding. Chelsea and Dave decided to do a First-Look (which is amazing) and as Dave stared at Chelsea walking towards him I knew he was beyond excited to be marrying his best friend. She looked stunning and their happiness was evident.

I like to think it’s the way Dave looks at Chelsea or the amount of respect Chelsea shows Dave but the way these two work together is very admirable. They are both quiet in their demeanor but Dave makes Chelsea radiate. He cherishes her! As their friends and family gathered and watched them promise to accept each other forever they glowed. They wholeheartedly know, love and adore each other. It’s a simple truth. Dave loves Chelsea and Chelsea loves Dave.

Chelsea and Dave-I can’t rave enough about you two. Your kindness and gentleness have left an impression on me. Thank you! I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to meet your family and close friends. With lots of Love and Appreciation-.A.E.

A1920’s INSPIRED LOOK: TAYLOR

Taylor is more like my little sister then anything else which made Saturday afternoon a ton of fun! As we drove to Scranton she was completely confused by all the big buildings and where we were going to photograph. I explained she needed to trust me. (::Trruuussttt meeee!!)  As we walked the streets, I showed her where we were going and as we arrived we both stood in awe. I’ve never seen something more drop dead gorgeous. Fall has definitely made Scranton even more beautiful than I could have imagined. The coloring of the foliage was just stunning! After shaking off the awe of God’s beautiful creativity we laughed and set up.

I am so impressed with Taylor. She’s growing up into a Godly young woman right before my eyes and I could not be more proud of her.  She is beautiful inside and out! With an infectious smile and kind spirit she’s easily loveable! When I asked her what kind of photo shoot she wanted she explained how she liked “vintage/classic style.” As a fan of the 1920’s, we kept that in mind and got together some gloves, pearls and hats. Below are a few of the highlights from the session.

Here you are my dear. You are one Classy gal! Love ya! -A.E.

Concert: Britt Nicole & Brandon Heath

SATURDAY NIGHT WAS GREAT. I TOOK A GOOD FRIEND WITH ME TO A LOCAL CONCERT AND OF COURSE MY CAMERA CAME WITH ME. THE CONCERT WAS HELD AT THE PECKVILLE ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH WITH BRITT NICOLE AND BRANDON HEATH AS THE ENTERTAINERS. NOW HAVING PHOTOGRAPHED A COUPLE OF CONCERTS (KUTLESS, RUSH OF FOOLS, ETC) IT FELT SO GOOD TO KNOW WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. LIGHTING AT CONCERTS IS PROBABLY MY FAVORITE…MOVING AROUND A BUNCH OF HYPER, YOUNG KIDS-WELL LET’S JUST SAY, YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO WAIT FOR THE RIGHT SHOT.

WITH ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT BRITT NICOLE TOOK THE STAGE FIRST. AS I LOOKED AROUND I WAS SO GRATEFUL THAT THESE GIRLS WERE LISTENING TO THIS GODLY WOMAN ENCOURAGE AND INSPIRE THEM TO FOLLOW AFTER JESUS. HER POP MUSIC IS CATCHY AND EASILY FUN TO DANCE TO. AFTER HER PERFORMANCE-BRANDON HEATH CLOSED THE CONCERT OUT. I THINK I WAS BEYOND CHALLENGED BY BOTH BRITT AND BRANDON’S TESTIMONY ABOUT BEING COLLABORATIVE SONGWRITERS 8 YEARS AGO NEVER KNOWING THAT ONE DAY THEY WOULD BE ON TOUR TOGETHER. 8 YEARS AGO THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT THEY WOULD BE IN PECKVILLE, PA ….THEY HAD NO IDEA BUT GOD DID. IN HIS WISDOM AND GREAT TIMING, GOD BROUGHT THE EDEN TOUR TO NEPA.

THANK YOU BRITT AND BRANDON-IT WAS A PLEASURE HAVING YOU BOTH IN TOWN. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOUR MUSIC AND MINISTRY. ~A.E.

LEATHER CRAFTSMEN-Elegance and Class

My brides ask me all the time how my albums work and I love explaining to them in great detail how I adore my albums. Leather Craftsmen Albums today are a wonderful investment so you can treasure your memories in an elegant and sophisticated way. The albums I use are flush so the pages are completely flat and smooth. Due to my limited time, I outsource the layout to a trusted and beautifully, talented graphic design major. She produces the layout, I send the order in to Leather Craftsmen and then it’s like Christmas. I wait with great anticipation for a beautifully, bound album to appear on my door step.  It’s always stunning! I won’t lie… I become a giddy school girl when it is in my hand. I ohh—and ahhh…! (My poor roommate-hearing my squeals, I hope never gets old!)

Whether you get a sign in book for your wedding complied of your engagement pictures or an album walking someone through your wedding day-Albums are a lovely option. I can’t get over how elegant they are.  I can’t rave enough. If you would like more information on them, please feel free to send me an email.

Okay… so what about you other clients who aren’t getting married? Maybe you just had a newborn or a family session and you’re asking…Amy, “what will my CD look like?” Well, I decided to go with tins in that regard. Why? Because I spill things. You think I joke…I don’t. I am a major klutz and when I was looking at CD cases and how I wanted to brand me, all I could think of was how I wanted to do something a little different and more me. Possibly something even waterproof knowing my addiction to coffee therefore enter the tins. Seriously I love my tin cases. They are sleek and simple.

After discussing with my creative- genesis roommate about covers to make each case a little more fun…she went to work with her sowing machine. She created all the covers for my tins and so here are we today. Full of fabric, buttons and fun cases! I get to personalize each case that goes out. I like it! I love it! It’s more me…and definitely more for you!

Still in process of making everything look just perfect, the perfectionist in me isn’t completely satisfied 😉 but we are on a great start and much improved from where I was a year ago today. I’m reminded today at how thankful I am to be living this dream. Bigger and better then I could have ever imagined, I praise God for blessing me with this gift.  Happy Thursday!- A.E.

NEW YORK CITY ENGAGEMENT: ANDREW + MICHELLE

Michelle swears she did not ask for his number and technically she didn’t. It was a comedy night at a local college and Michelle was with some friends when Andrew walked in. Right away she noticed how good looking he was and turned to ask her friend about who the handsome stranger was. A mutual friend saw her reaction and headed over to get his number. (Good friend-I think so!) After being mortified that he actually went over to talk to Andrew, Michelle’s friend returned with Andrews’s number. Too embarrassed to actually take it she blushed. Even as she tells the story I can imagine how Andrew could be watching her friend return to Michelle with a huge smile on his face.

Well soon after Andrew friended her on Facebook and instead of just accepting it she wrote a message in reply. In true Facebook fashion, the messages soon turned into hanging out and Andrew quickly pursued and won Michelle’s heart. Now, after a wonderful dating relationship we are able to celebrate the love of two best friends who want to promise each other their love forever.

For their engagement session we knew what we had to do. Michelle and Andrew LOVE New York City! They have a ton of memories getting lost in the busy city. They love Broadway, theater and everything that atmosphere has to offer. From the city lights of Times Square to walking Central Park, NYC has played a wonderful backdrop to their relationship. So we hit a bunch of their favorite spots. From the most delicious cupcake shop (Magnolia Bakery) to Times Square at night, we traveled all over. (Andrew you get props for being our fearless driver!) At the end of the night we walked back to the car with Starbucks in hand and with smiles on our faces.

Andrew and Michelle- I’m incredibly honored to have photographed you both in a place you adore so much! I am also very glad we could make this session work on such short notice. Your goofiness and sheer joy was a blast to work with. I am excited to see the places you’ll go together and the love you’ll be able to share for a lifetime! Congratulations!

New Song and Kutless Concert

This past weekend Baptist Bible College hosted Dara Maclean, Anthem Lights, New Song and Kutless.  A mix of students, local families and eager fans came for the night of worship! All the artists did a fantastic job performing! Seeing the camaraderie between all the artists along with the extra time they spent after signing autographs and taking photos was great. You can truly tell they’ve been given a gift and desire to treasure it.

As they continue their tour, I pray God will show himself in ways they never could have imagined. Thanks you all for coming to a little place in NEPA! We loved having you around!

The Wonder: Dee and Art

I got to know Dee through church and Bible study. I knew I instantly liked her upon our first conversation. She just has one of the sweetest demeanors which makes her very easy to talk to. Seeing God bless her wish for a beautiful child come true has been a huge blessing in my own life. God does answer our prayers! I won’t lie, I am also a fan because she choose to decorate her nursery with The Lion King theme. I believe that to be an excellent choice! It’s beyond fun and different then most of what I’ve seen.

Seeing Dee radiate with happiness was beyond precious. She’s so excited to be a mom and Art takes great care of her. He’s going to be a wonderful dad. Their kindness and love for each other is completely evident as you watch them interact. Still in the dark about the gender, we all wait with great expectations to meet this little one. What a beautiful family!

Congratulations you two! I can’t wait to meet your little bundle of joy! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend time getting to know you both a little more and find myself blessed to call you friends! Now let’s go dancing… 😉 -A.E.
